A scheduled debate between Fiji's Prime Minister and the leader of the SODELPA party on the public broadcaster has been cancelled.

Fiji's Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama will go face to face in an election debate with the leader of the party he sees as his main opponent in the polls.

Incumbent President Dilma Rousseff went head to head with main rivals Marina Silva of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB) and Aecio Neves of the PSDB.

The decision comes after the party faced criticism for pulling out of the debate.
