Presidential debates, a positive development

The introduction of televised presidential debates has certainly opened a new chapter in the country’s election campaign. Despite criticisms on the format because of the ‘big’ number of presidential candidates being grilled at once, the three presidential debates are generally being celebrated as signalling a positive turn in Malawi’s political campaigns.
